At the start of March, Prominent successfully started using the I-Fresh by Axians software in its packaging companies, DC Prominent in De Lier and Prominent Maasland in Maasland. Both packaging companies are specialised in packing the tomatoes supplied by the Prominent growers. This project was carried out under the guidance of Bert de Wild, chain and information manager of DOOR.
The implementation at Prominent is preparation for the software system that will be used in the new packaging centre. The members of TV Prominent are also members of Coöperation DOOR U.A., which is responsible for the sales and marketing of the products of its members.

The I-Fresh system that Axians supplies is based on Microsoft Dynamics Business Central programme (previously Dynamics NAV). This is a programme that helps companies streamline and control primary processes such as purchasing, sales and bookkeeping. Axians has added specific functions to this programme that are specially intended for the fruit and vegetable sector. This makes I-Fresh a handy platform that connects processes of sales, purchasing, production, logistics and finances together.
With the installation of I-Fresh at Prominent the entire process of sales to product supply is supported. I-Fresh also offers support in the packaging of tomatoes with processing the packaging that comes with it.
A special challenge in the installation of I-Fresh was the link with the existing SCADA system at Prominent that controls the automatic packaging machines. Data from I-Fresh is linked real time with the SCADA software, that can control the correct machines with this information. The information that the packaging machine sends back is then also linked to I-Fresh to enable further (order) processing and track and trace information. This connection was made possible in cooperation with Pro-AT the supplier of the SCADA software.
For Prominent it was important that the new I-Fresh system was made operational before the start of the high season in the tomato sector. This will make the use of I-Fresh routine at Prominent when there are the highest volumes. This is why they decided to do this project in collaboration as much as possible, working together intensively with consultants and final users over 6 months.
With the introduction of I-Fresh Prominent has laid the foundation for the expansion of a completely new landscape in the ICT-sector and company supporting processes. In this the ERP-system, which helps with supporting these company processes, as well as SCADA, grow along with the new build plans and needs of Prominent. This system can be supplemented with new functions if they are available.
