The prices of many vegetable products at the Beijing Xinfadi Vegetable Market showed a steady decline last week (April 1st to April 7th). Only the prices of a small number of vegetable products increased. However, since the volume of expensive vegetables is sizeable, the average price by weight went up.
Even though expensive vegetables still take up a large portion of the market, many of them approach the end of their supply season. The supply from other production areas will grow and the high prices will not last long. The prices of small bok choy, round lettuce, and chilli peppers all showed a significant decline last week.
