DRV, BVEO and Landgard:

Working together for German production

Current market developments and future topics such as structural change, sustainability and appreciation of German production were the focus of the visit by Franz-Josef Holzenkamp's, President of the German Raiffeisen Association and Christian Weseloh, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Producer Organizations Fruit and Vegetables, to Landgard in Straelen-Herongen.

In a personal conversation with Armin Rehberg, CEO of Landgard eG, and Thomas Schlich, Managing Director of Landgard Fruit & Vegetable GmbH & Co. KG, the association representatives heard first hand of the next steps in the further development of the successful Landgard business model as a modern marketing and largest German producer cooperative and the future orientation of the two divisions flowers and plants as well as fruits and vegetables. Finally, the participants in the discussion emphasized that in the future, they want to work even closer together in order to advance German products on the market.

Dr. Christian Weseloh (Managing Director of the Federation of Producers' Organizations Fruit and Vegetables), Armin Rehberg (Chairman of Landgard), Franz-Josef Holzenkamp (President of the German Raiffeisen Association) and Thomas Schlich (Managing Director of Landgard Obst & Gemüse GmbH & Co.)

DRV President Holzenkamp was impressed by the achievements and developments of Landgard. "As DRV and BVEO, it is very important to us to cultivate an even closer exchange with the members, especially in the special culture sector. For the benefit of the entire German fruit and vegetable sector, positive synergy effects are realized through the deeper professional integration of the companies with the associations," said the DRV President.

Quality products of regional and national producers
"As a marketing cooperative producer, we are every day committed to the concerns of our 3,300 members and, in particular, our 2,600 German member companies. Together with key industry representatives such as the BVEO and the DRV, we want to make a sustainable contribution to the further development of our German production over the long term, securing the future of German producers and their high-quality production, "emphasized Armin Rehberg, CEO of Landgard.

"For this reason, together with our association partners, we will concentrate our activities around important core topics of German fruit and vegetable production even more closely in the future. Of course, the focus is primarily on the quality products of regional and national producers. In addition, we want to join forces to make young people more enthusiastic about fresh fruit and vegetables. To do this, we will closely link our new generic initiative 'Fruits & Vegetables - 1000 Good Reasons' and the BVEO Campaign 'Germany - My Garden', combine healthy nutrition with fresh produce, and show consumers that fruits and vegetables simply taste great."

Working together in close cooperation
In future, DRV, BVEO and the producer cooperative Landgard also want to work together more closely in close coordination on other important future topics, such as sustainability activities or the quality assurance of international cooperative production with global producers.
