Market prospects for Taiwanese Jinzuan pineapples in 2019

The pineapple is the most important agricultural export product for Taiwan. The unpredictable weather in recent months resulted in an early harvest of Taiwanese pineapples, which means they entered the market early this year, but they are relatively slow to develop their characteristic sweetness. According to Mr. Lin of Zhengru Benefits of Agriculture Co., Ltd., "the pineapples mature 2 weeks early if the winter in the traditional Chinese agricultural calendar is relatively warm. Furthermore, the warm, moist 'typhoon' winds from the sea carry additional nutrients to the pineapple plants, which have already begun to produce mature, golden fruits. However, the fruits are only ready on the outside, the quality of the fruit flesh itself is not yet up to standard."

"Even though the winter is relatively warm, the nights are still quite cold. The pineapples harvested in March are still quite sour as a result of these conditions. The growing supply of poor-quality pineapples will complicate retail conditions. Now that the night-time temperature reached 23-24 degrees Celsius, the product quality of our pineapples will improve."

Price
"In addition to Jinzuan pineapples from Taiwan, Chinese consumers can also choose to buy the similar pineapple variety MD2 from Hainan and the Philippines, as well as pineapples from Thailand and Malaysia, and pineapples from South America are on their way. This abundance of choice in the Chinese pineapple market creates fierce competition among pineapples suppliers. However, the main difference between MD2 pineapples and Jinzuan pineapples is that the Jinzuan pineapples have a stronger fragrance and the fibers are softer and therefore easier to eat. Furthermore, as the temperatures rise and the product quality improves, so will the price of Jinzuan pineapples on the Chinese market."

Protection of brand image and product quality
"Our company is specialized in the management of Jinzuan pineapple orchards. Taiwan Zhengru Benefits of Agriculture established their pineapple brand 'Stone Ground' in 2014 with the launch of the first natural yellow Jinzuan pineapples that were grown without the use of plant hormones. Benefits of Agriculture first supplied these natural Jinzuan pineapples to the Chinese consumer market, and these pineapples are now also available in Japanese supermarkets. 'Stone Ground' pineapples have maintained a high-end brand image right from the beginning. The brand has 10 specialized trademarks registered in the Chinese market. The registered trademarks include the internationally recognized patented trademarks #29, #31, #35 (Chinese) on the outside of the pineapple boxes. However, dishonest pineapple traders have repeatedly infringed the copyright of our patented trademarks registered under the 'Stone Ground' brand in the last few years. We have a saying in Benefits for Agriculture that the two words 'Stone Ground' are not at all special in common speech or writing, but they gain their importance from being registered as a patented trademark, much like BMW protects its registered trademarks to maintain its status among car brands. Dishonest traders who sell pineapples in the Chinese market under our brand without our permission, regardless of the marketing channels or online platforms they go through, are all in violation of the #35 patent."
