Technological revolution at Polymer Logistics

The new corporate image of Polymer Logistics aims to reflect its technological nature. The firm, in fact, is investing in the development of new applications for the market. According to Beatriz Cosín, Business Development Manager of the company, "we have made an important commitment to functionality and aesthetic perception since our beginnings, and we are currently facing a new challenge. It is a new stage for us; a time when our consumers are becoming increasingly demanding."

We are talking about a new strategy; one focused on strengthening the company's technological area with a new department specialized in the development of innovative technological solutions, which would add value to the product portfolio. The firm's research and development department is working hand in hand with its clients, betting on differentiation in order to provide specific solutions to meet the specific needs of each market.

We are talking about smart packaging that provides information in real time about the location and conditions in which the product is traveling, in addition to being able to plan product replenishments with greater precision, preventing stockouts, which are a cause of profit losses and irreversible damage on a company's reputation.

The company recently announced the launch of a device with a temperature sensor, accelerometer and geolocation, which records the critical aspects that may affect the product's preservation during transport.

Thanks to the application of new technologies, it is now possible to control key aspects of our supply chain. Some of the applications with which the company is currently working are:

- Fresh product management: thanks to the use of different devices and alert systems, perishable product management is kept under control, thereby reducing waste generation due to inefficiencies.
- Availability on the shelves: It is possible to get data in real time about a product's availability at the points of sale, thus preventing the loss of sales due to stock shortages.

From the producers' point of view, it is also important to be able to control the stock availability in various stores.

- Pallet tracking: geolocalize pallets in real time and control the conditions in which the product travels; humidity, temperature, etc. Such data becomes vitally important when we are talking about the supply chain of fresh or frozen products.
