The agricultural professional organization ASAJA Murcia has expressed its deep concern about the new blockades to Spanish trucks in France by the so-called "yellow vests", faced with complete passivity on the part of the EU and Spanish authorities.
According to the Secretary General of ASAJA Murcia, Alfonso Gálvez Caravaca, "this situation cannot be accepted; and what is worse, the European Union authorities are not imposing sanctions on France for not guaranteeing the free movement of goods. Faced with these blockades, our companies and cooperatives are unable to meet the deadlines for the delivery of citrus fruits, vegetables and other products."
"With the ruinous prices that we have to put up with, many of us ask wonder how much of a future the European Union has as a single market. Politicians could give an answer to this question," says Gálvez Caravaca.
The head of ASAJA Murcia also said that "this threat to the Spanish fruit and vegetable sector needs to be stopped. It is an outrage that is causing a lot of damage to our producers and companies, and politicians should get to work once and for all to defend our interests."
