The Council of Agriculture of Murcia has recognized a new Producers' Organization (PO), El Dulze Growers, which is mainly devoted to the production of different types of lettuce and aromatic plants. On Tuesday, Councillor Miguel Angel del Amor, together with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, visited the company's facilities. These are characterized by their bet on innovation and the use of the latest existing technologies adapted to their production model.
To be more specific, the packaging plant has more than 7,000 square meters. The entity "is a 4.0 industry; a pioneer among horticultural companies. It has succeeded in the automation and robotization of all processes, not only in the field, but also in the sorting tasks, the handling and bagging," said Del Amor.
The company has 480 workers. It markets more than 100 million lettuce hearts and last year it invoiced more than 34 million Euro. It exports to all of Europe and the Middle East; however, Spain still accounts for 50 percent of its turnover.
It meets all the requirements to be considered a PO, including the number of producer members, the value of the marketed production, a strong structure, its technical and human resources and the ability to market its products.
