At the request of Russian Federal Phytosanitary Service Rosselkhoznadzor, Moldova’s National Agency for Food Safety has stopped issuing phytosanitary certificates for stone fruit originating from the Kantemir and Ialoveni districts, intended for export to Russia.
The Rosselkhoznadzor press service claims that shipments from these regions repeatedly showed fruit with brown rot.
"The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance appealed to the National Agency for Food Safety of the Republic of Moldova with a request to stop issuing phytosanitary certificates for quarantine products of the EAEC 0809 TN VED code from 28 November 2018 (apricots, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums and terns) fresh) of Moldovan origin from Kantemir and Ialovensky districts," a statement read.
Fruitnews.ru reported how earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor conducted negotiations with a Moldovan regulator, during which it reported its concern about the situation and asked to tighten control over plant products supplied to Russia.
