Chile will once again host the Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) Fresh Connections, a major event that will bring together the world's leading executives of the fruit and vegetable industry, on January 16, 2019. In addition, for the first time in its history, the PMA will hold its Board Meeting outside of North America, in Chile.
One of the outstanding speakers at the event is Ruth McLennan, the VP of Produce the Cold Storage supermarket chain in Singapore, a company that is part of The Dairy Farm Group, with headquarters in Hong Kong. Cold Storage has stores throughout Singapore and Malaysia. Ruth McLennan recently received a distinction as one of the 40 best executives under the age of 40 in the US.
Another great speaker attending the event is Yi (Eric) Li, VP Global Sourcing and Alliance at Yiguo E-Commerce, from Shanghai, China, a leading e-commerce company that offers safe, healthy, and convenient perishable foods to some 20 million consumers in more than 300 cities in China. Yiguo is also in charge of global acquisitions for Alibaba.
"It is a great honor for Chile to have these great leaders and important representatives from around the world in our congress. We invite all producers, exporters, importers, supermarkets, distributors, and input and service providers of the fruit and vegetable industry to participate in this great event," said Andres Rodriguez, a representative of PMA in Chile.
He also said that the event would focus on trends and changes in the main mature markets, as well as in emerging markets. "We will have importers from China, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. It is a unique opportunity for the fruit sector, not only of Chile, but in general of all of Latin America," he added.
