Chiquita Brands International is proud to announce its support for the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon. As the official banana sponsor, Chiquita will supply 46,000 bananas to participants at the start, finish and at mile markers 21, 22 and 23. Chiquita’s cheerful banana character, Bananaman, will also be on-site to hand out bananas at the start of the race to help excite participants as they gear up for the race.
Chiquita said it is committed to supporting health and wellness for consumers and its employees, and continuously looks for opportunities to expand health and wellness programs. This year, Chiquita will support its employee, Jennifer Griggs, senior transportation analyst at Chiquita, who plans to run in the marathon for the first time.
“I’ve been working at Chiquita for more than four years, and I’m grateful for their support in helping to achieve my dream of running in the TCS New York City Marathon, especially with the natural fruit that helps fuel my runs,” says Jennifer Griggs. “I run to challenge myself both physically and mentally, and I look to Chiquita bananas to give me the boost I need to power through the long miles and even help me to avoid cramping post-run.”

Participants and supporters of the TCS New York City Marathon are encouraged to interact and take selfies with Bananaman. While he will be there to support Jennifer and the other runners, he also wants to bring the sunny yellow positive attitude of Chiquita bananas to people everywhere!
