China: National Day saw peak consumption of reasonably priced fruit

October is a peak period for fruit consumption in China. The markets are particularly crowded during the National Day holiday period in early October. Many fruit varieties enter the market in large volumes. Grapes, apples, and pears, the "three old favorites", have a reliable market share based on excellent quality and reasonable prices. But other fruit varieties also rely on reasonable prices during this period when a large variety of fruit is available to consumers.

Furthermore, retailers organize many promotional activities during the National Day holiday period and prices can go as low as 50% off. This draws large crowds of consumers. Not only regular packaged fruit, but gift boxes of fruit are particularly popular in this festive period.
