Dominican Republic will export fruits and vegetables to the US without restrictions

The Dominican Republic will be able to export fruits and vegetables to the United States without any restrictions, after US authorities lifted the ban on the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, Samana, San Pedro de Macoris, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, and Monte Plata, which were kept under observation.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that it had received the Federal Order DA-2017-38, which allows the official entry of fruits and vegetables from the seven provinces that were banned from the Dominican Republic, from the health authorities of the United States.

The letter, which is dated on December 12, 2017, lifted the restrictions for the provinces of the East that still remained unable to export to the country's main international partner.

As a result of this measure, the entire Dominican Republic can export its products to the United States.

On July 7 of this year 2017, the Ministry of Agriculture declared that the Mediterranean Fly had been eradicated from the country, with the presence of representatives of international organizations.

"The Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic, in coordination with APHIS, the International Atomic Energy Agency, FAO and other international and national agencies, established a highly reliable national trapping network and carried out the necessary control activities to ensure eradication, so this Federal Order lifts any restriction on fruit and vegetable exports from the Dominican Republic to the United states due to the Mediterranean fly," the order states.
