Peru: 90% of preserved piquillo peppers exported to Spain in January

Peruvian piquillo pepper exports began the year well. According to information provided by AgrodataPerú, in January, the Andean country exported 2.3199 million kilos of piquillo peppers with an FOB value of US $4,490,092. The data is very positive when compared to the first month of 2015, when Peru only exported 890,225 kilos for US $1,925,477. 

Spain stood out among the target markets for this segment, with 90% of the exports. It was followed by the United States (6%), Germany (2%), France (1%), and several other destinations that, together, account for 1%. 

Sales of canned piquillo peppers in January were led by the ECOSAC Agricola company, which exported US $1.7 million, i.e. 38% of the total shipped. 

During 2016, Peru exported a total of 24,191,576 kilos of canned piquillo peppers for an FOB value of US $ 50,045,255.
