Fires in Israel no effect on fruit and vegetable industry

The fires that hit Israel last Thursday are almost under control. Luckily nobody was hurt, but over 75,000 people were evacuated.

“From the agricultural side nothing was damaged”, said Omer Kamp from Arava Export Growers. “They used fuel to burn national parks close to the cities. The dry weather and the wind helped the fires.

Rain on Wednesday

Also regarding transportation Omer Kamp hasn't see any effect. “Everything seems under control now and Wednesday the first rain is expected, so then the fires will have no chance any more.”

On Thursday the fires were started in Haifa, Israel’s third biggest city. After that multiple fires were started in Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the fires currently sweeping the country, that were caused by arson, are acts of terrorism and will be dealt with accordingly.
