Beefsteak tomatoes: decreased availability
The vine tomatoes mainly came from the Netherlands Belgium and Spain. While a fair share of regular tomatoes from Morocco were available in the trade. Cherry tomatoes came mostly from Italy and Dutch and Spanish batches completed the range.

The Belgian beefsteak tomatoes dominated the trade ahead of Spain and the Netherlands. However, the availability decreased but was sufficient to meet the demand. In some places, the supply was so large that the traders were forced to reduce the prices.

However in Munich these measures weren’t sufficient to increase the sales. In Frankfurt prices of the vine tomatoes from Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium increased. In Hamburg the prices increased after the flawed tomatoes were removed and the batches offered had a consistent quality.

In Cologne the taste and color were insufficient; this negatively influenced the trade. However in Berlin the prices were stable, because the supply matched the demand.
