Peru: Cavendish banana exports increased by 21% January to October

According to the AGRODATAPERU website, Cavendish Valery banana exports between January and October increased by 21%, from $95.9 million dollars in the same period of 2014 to $119.68 million dollars in 2015.

Sales to the United States accounted for 36% of the nearly 120 million dollars billed during the first ten months of 2015, while sales to the Netherlands accounted for 33%. Thus, these two destinations accounted for almost 70% of the FOB value recorded in the period.

Other destinations for the Peruvian Cavendish Valery bananas were Germany (16%), Belgium (5%), South Korea (3%), Finland and Japan, with 2% each, and the UK and Canada with 1%.

The Cooperativa Agraria APPBOSA led exports of this product with a 9.1% FOB share between January and October; followed by the Asociación Comunal de Productores de Banano Orgánico de Querecotillo y Anexos (6.2%), Asociación de Productores de Banano Orgánico Valle de Chira (5.9%), Pronatur E.I.R.L. (5.5%), Asociación de Bananeros Orgánicos Solidarios Salitral (5.3%), Asociación de Pequeños Productores Orgánicos de Querecotillo (5.1%), and the Central Piurana de Asociaciones de Peque (5.1%); among others.

For your information ...
Between January and October, the volume of Cavendish Valery bananas and plantains amounted to 157,320,166 kilos.

The FOB value recorded in October was US $11.89 million.

Furthermore, the average export price (FOB) in October and throughout the year has been $0.76 per kilo.
