Saxony-Anhalt: growers expect 6% more apples

In the German state of Saxony-Anhalt fruit growers expect a harvest a volume of 18,100 tons of apples this year, reports the German webstie Fruchthandel.de.

That is 6% more than last year. An early spring in the state resulted in an early start for the harvest. But the ripening of the fruit has been delayed, leading to a more average harvest time. The longer vegetation time and adequate rainfall has resulted in good development of the fruit and larger apples.
