Germany: demand for kohlrabi increases

The sales of kohlrabi have increased since week 38 in Germany. Better sales conditions due to the weather and the slight dip in prices have contributed to this. The consumers had to pay 4 cents less on average in week 38 than in week 37, at 42 cents a piece, according to information from the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI).

The percentage of households that buy kohlrabi has increased from 5.1% to 5.8%. And the positive sales trend continues, partly due to kohlrabi being promoted at many supermarkets. The producers have no difficulty selling their wares. It has even been suggested that there isn't enough to cover the demand, which is making the prices more secure at the moment.
