Minimum wage Lidl Switzerland 4000 franc

The German discounter Lidl will raise the wages of its lowest earners in Switzerland, starting December. The new minimum wage will be 4000 Swiss franc (3,261 Euro). Previously it was 3800 Swiss franc. Other wage scales are also being adjusted up, the company reported. The total sum of wages is being increased by 2.5 percent, reports Lidl Switzerland.

Swiss trade unions were trying to realise a higher wage at Lidl. Union Syna and association KV Schweiz are satisfied. "The successful agreements with Lidl Switzerland show that fair wages can be paid in the detail trade," according to Carlo Mathieu, branch leader of detail trade in union Syna. "This increase in wages is an important sign for the entire branch," says Karin Oberlin of KV Schweiz.
