490 million Euro investment program announced

Jerónimo Martins to boost Polish subsidiary

The Portuguese distribution giant Jerónimo Martins wants to reinforce its confidence in the Poland-based supermarket chain Biedronka. The company has announced a 490 million Euro investment in its Polish subsidiary this year.

Additionally, the managing director of Jerónimo Martins, Pedro Soares dos Santos, showed his intention to maintain those levels of annual investment during the years 2014, 2015 and 2016, as stated to the Polish financial newspaper Puls Biznesu.

According to the CEO of the Portuguese retailer, these investments will expand Biedronka's shop network, going from the current 2,200 establishments to 3,000. "Nowadays, Poland is our most important market. It generates almost 70% of our revenue," he added.
