"West-European consumers do not accept stones"

Low prices for Italian grapes against Brazilian Thompsons

While Brazilian Thompson grapes are currently being sold at 16-16.50 Euro for 4.5 kilo, Italian are receiving 8.50-10 Euro for 7 kilos of Italia-grapes. "A good quality Italia-grape is extremely delicious, but for some reason or another, the Netherlands, Belgium and England do not want to pay for it. People don't like the seeds and that's why the large supermarket chains leave them alone," tells a trader.

Alongside the stone, the presentation of Italian grapes is a point of attention. "Only when people in Italy start putting the grapes in a container and have polished packaging, can you guarantee an increase in sales of Italia's. The retailers put the crates down and the Italians will not accept that you should package his large bunch of grapes in a small container. He will run you off his land with a pitchfork."
