China: 'Donghai oranges' very popular

"Linhai, Taizhou, has the reputation of being the 'southern home of oranges', and a 'home of seedless honey oranges'. Currently, Linhai has an orange production area of 18,000 hectares. From the plains at the coast to the mountains in the west, it has the uninterrupted 'Baili orange belt', and a 1,000 hectare high quality field at Yongquan as well. This year, the production of Taizhou honey oranges has grown 20% from last year. That is mainly because this is a fruit bearing year. Because of the strong market demand, this increase in supply has not led to a drop in price," states Mr. Mou Guifu of Taizhou Jiasheng Ecological Agriculture Co.Ltd.

"This season, the seedless honey oranges from Yongquan will be ripening for about 90 days, from the middle of October until January next year. For many years, the high quality Yongquan honey oranges have been very popular. Their prices are around 20%-30% higher than that of other oranges, and they have therefore become a high-end product. On the market, the supply does not meet the demand. Especially this year, the producers of Linhai honey oranges have increased their investments in infrastructure, fertilizer and management, so that the product quality and production rate have increased dramatically."

"We are located in Zhejiang province, in Yongquan in Linhai, Taizhou. We mainly purchase high quality honey oranges from local farmers. Under our 'Donghai oranges' brand, we sell them through traditional sales channels to large-scale distributors, supermarkets and chain stores in first and second tier cities, like Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. The brand 'Donghai oranges' derives from the honey oranges from the coast of the East China Sea, which is Donghai in Chinese. Their skin is smooth, they taste delicious, and they are selling very well."

"Our 'Donghai oranges' products have four versions. Firstly, we supply our products to distributors and supermarkets all over China, and use standardized shipping. Secondly, we use express delivery. This is suitable for our e-commerce customers, and we can use our previous experiences to solve any problems, so that we can guarantee zero damage. Thirdly, we are using trunk logistics and same city delivery for e-commerce platforms to avoid packages falling during transportation. Lastly, our gift packaging is suitable for business gifts."

"Currently, we are focusing on the Chinese market. On the fields, we are working together with experts and local, experienced farmers. We have also established a standardized processing facility with several of the industry forerunners, where we classify the fruit we purchase from farmers, and sell them to the market. When the time is ripe, we want to expand to the international market as well, so that foreign consumers will also have the opportunity to taste our special, high quality honey oranges."
