This year the watermelon price is around one third higher than that of last year. As last year the watermelon price hit the low record, and fruit growers suffered significant losses, this year the watermelon plantation area is reduced therefore its price will not be too low. For example the market listing price of watermelons from Shandong watermelon bases is around 2.6-3 Yuan/kilo. As more watermelons come to the market, its price will continue to go down. It is estimated that the price will be around 1.2- 1.6 Yuan by then.
Currently a lot of watermelons are quite large in size due to the lack of rain over a long period of time. Therefore its yield will be less than last year.
