During the reference period, banana sales totaled $351.9 million dollars, 10.6% more than the $318 million achieved in the first nine months of last year.

According to the report, in September, the price of a box of bananas averaged $14.50 dollars, 4% more than the $13.93 dollars it was quoted at in the same period of 2014.

United States and Canada were the main destinations of exports of Honduran bananas since those markets bought more than 90% of the fruit sold.

Throughout 2014 banana exports, one of the main agricultural products of Honduras totaled $ 456 million, according to official figures.
