Decofrut opens repacking operation in Miami

Decofrut Inc., a multinational worldwide produce quality control company for fruits and vegetables, is innovating by establishing a brand new produce repack operation. After eight years in Philadelphia, the company opened its doors in Miami on August 1. In addition to the US, Decofrut has offices in Europe, South America and Asia.

“The project is a joint venture with a cooling facility named ‘Flora Logistics’, who has the most advanced refrigerated warehouse in Miami for fruit and vegetables, using only an ‘ammonia cooling system’,” says Andres Gonzalez White, Florida Manager of Decofrut.

The cool warehouse, with 350,000 square foot refrigerated, provides this unique cooling system, which extends the shelf life of produce. Different temperature zones allow the facility to manage different types of produce at the same time.

Flora Logistics is open 365 days a year and 24 hours a day, with 47 dock doors to load from. The parent company, ‘Florida Beauty Express’, provides 380 refrigerated vehicles of 53 ft., covering the entire 48 continental states, with full and LCL truck loads. Recently, the facility has been granted the rights from US Customs and is now officially a Foreign Trade Zone, which opens up many other opportunities in the industry.

“The objective of the joint venture is to provide our clients with the very best and most complete service that the industry has to offer”, says Linda Nuñez, responsible for the Marketing & Sales of Flora Logistics. “We expect that this new endeavor for our company becomes a real solution for all the produce industry importers, exporters and also for the local produce industry”, adds Andres Gonzalez White.
