Polish apple exports to Ukraine six times greater than last year

Since the start of the season, Poland has increased its apple exports to the Ukrainian market by more than six times.

According to official statistics, between July and February of the 2014/2015 season Poland has exported 25 thousand tonnes of apples to Ukraine, while during the same period of the previous season, Ukraine purchased a total of 4 thousand tonnes of Polish apples.

This season, Poland is the undisputed leader when it comes to the supply of apples to the Ukrainian market, accounting for 80% of the shipments between July and February.

At the moment, Polish apples in Ukraine cost UAH 12.5-13.5/kg (0.45-0.49 Euro/kg). Experts also predict that the price in the near future will continue to increase, as from April Ukraine ceased to allow duty-free supplies of apples.
