Türkiye continues to report a central role in global fruit and vegetable production, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry listing the country among the top three producers worldwide for 22 products. The country's agricultural area totals 38.588 million hectares, supporting a wide range of commercial crops.
Apricots remain one of Türkiye's leading export crops. Annual output stands at 750,000 tons, ahead of Uzbekistan at 500,545 tons, followed by Iran, Italy, and Algeria. Other producing countries include Afghanistan, Pakistan, France, Armenia, and Spain.
Türkiye also leads global cherry production with 736,791 tons. With worldwide output estimated at 2.97 million tons, Türkiye accounts for around 25 per cent of total volumes. Chile, the United States, Uzbekistan, and Iran follow.
In figs, Türkiye holds the top position with 356,000 tons. Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Iran make up the rest of the top five. Hazelnut production continues to be concentrated in Türkiye. Out of 1.125 million tons of global in-shell hazelnuts, Türkiye produces 650,000 tons. Italy, the United States, Azerbaijan, and Chile follow as other producing countries.
Quince production is also dominated by Türkiye, which supplies 192,237 tons out of a global total of 687,036 tons. China, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Morocco follow. Cucumber and sour cherry production places Türkiye second globally, according to the ministry. The country ranks third in several fruit and vegetable crops, including pistachios, mandarins, peaches, spinach, apples, cranberries, watermelons, melons, leeks, peppers, and tomatoes.
The data reflects Türkiye's continued positioning in world markets for both fresh and processing-oriented supply chains. The ministry notes that the combination of growing regions across 38.588 million hectares supports production diversity, allowing the country to maintain its standing in multiple crop categories.
