COMADER files complaint with Spanish courts

Morocco vows to protect agricultural exports to Europe

In light of recent tensions surrounding the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European Union, the Moroccan government has taken a firm stance. Government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, during a press briefing, emphasized that the free trade agreement with Europe is comprehensive, covering all aspects of export including materials and quantities. This comes in response to incidents where Moroccan trucks were intercepted by protesting farmers in Europe, alleging unfair competition and lack of phytosanitary controls. The Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, condemned these actions, highlighting the EU's trade surplus with Morocco and the rigorous compliance of Moroccan exports with EU standards.

Furthermore, the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER) has filed a legal complaint in Spain following attacks on trucks and negative media portrayal of Moroccan agricultural exports. COMADER insists on the adherence of Moroccan exports to EU regulatory standards, and calls for constructive trade relations based on mutual respect. This series of events underscores the challenges facing Moroccan agricultural exports and the government's commitment to protecting its interests in European markets.
