Technology highlighted in special sessions at AgSafe’s ACTIVATE24

ZAG Technical Services, an IT consulting firm specializing in information technology, cybersecurity and data analytics in the ag and food and beverage industries, will be speaking on an expert panel at the AgSafe ACTIVATE24 Annual Conference in Monterey, California February 20-22.

The session, "Cyber Risk Mitigation and Breach Response" will be moderated by Newfront's Seth Word, and feature several industry leaders including ZAG founder and president, Greg Gatzke. The panel will speak about the before, during, and after of a cyber incident, including how companies prepare and protect themselves, what happens when an attack occurs and the development of a response plan to recover with limited business interruption.

To better prepare, businesses should be of the mindset of 'when', not if, a breach will be attempted. Attendees can expect to learn how criminals find their victims and some simple, preventative measures that can be taken to greatly reduce risk. "It doesn't have to mean catastrophe," said Gatzke. "More agribusinesses are turning to IT security firms to execute crucial cybersecurity projects. Strong prevention programs supported by incident response plans can have companies back online in hours, not weeks or even months as we've seen."

Gatzke says more agribusinesses are turning to IT security firms to execute crucial cybersecurity projects.

The panel will feature:

  • Greg Gatzke, ZAG Technical Services founder and president
  • Jennifer Wilson, Newfront Cyber Practice leader
  • Carolyn Pruwin Ryan, Mullen Coughlin LLC partner
  • Seth Word, Newfront principal & head of agribusiness

The session will be presented so industry members from every level of the supply chain and produce discipline can understand the modern risks and responsibilities of cybersecurity challenges. The session will provide information, solutions and resources for everyone from agricultural supervisors to executives.

Each panelist will provide insights into the process of prevention, detection and response with the same end goal – to help secure the food supply chain and the workers overseeing it. Cyber threats will forever be a fact of life. However, adequate protection and a solid response plan can get systems back online without loss of business. "I'm thrilled to be a part of this distinguished panel and look forward to sharing knowledge that will help secure our industry," Gatzke added.

The session will take place in the Regency 3 room from 9:45 am to 10:45 am on Wednesday, February 21, following the welcome and keynote speech.
