South Australian cherry season starts, just in time for the festive season

The SA cherry season has officially kicked off; cherry orchards have begun their annual harvest with the early varietals ready, signaling the end of a year-long wait. Lennane Orchards in Montacute and the organic haven of Cowlings at Norton Summit both report exceptional quality early-season produce.

Timing is everything, and the bulk of SA cherries are expected to be picked in the last three weeks of December and into the fresh beginnings of January. With some farms situated closer to the city commencing and concluding their harvest early, and others, nestled around Kersbrook, Gumeracha, Lenswood, Hahndorf, and the Fleurieu, extending the cherry cheer later into the eight-week season, there is ample opportunity for everyone to indulge this season.
