Vegetable export trends in Pakistan

Pakistan reported a surge in vegetable exports, reaching 1.126 million metric tons valued at $430.055 million in the financial year ending June 30, 2024. This marks an increase from the 1.336 million metric tons worth $300 million exported in the previous year. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics highlighted a 43.20 percent growth in vegetable exports for the July-June 2024 period compared to the prior year.

Fruit exports also saw a rise, with over 935,631 metric tons valued at $343.532 million shipped out during the last financial year, up from 627,133 metric tons at $283.188 million in the previous period. This represents a 21.31 percent increase in fruit exports.

The overall food group exports from Pakistan grew by 46.77 percent, with food commodities valued at $7.369 billion exported, compared to $5.021 billion in the 2022-23 fiscal year. Conversely, food goods imports decreased, totalling $7.903 billion in the 2023-24 financial year down from $8.936 billion in the previous year.
