JP Farms announced has successfully shipped 3,000 coconuts to stores in New York and Connecticut. The shipment, which includes a combination of JP's Jamaican-grown green bananas and dry coconuts, is expected to arrive during the last week of March. This marks a significant achievement for the company, which has over 1,000 coconut trees on more than 50 acres of farmland in St Mary.
Last December, JP Farms disclosed that it had been exploring the coconut export trade with a Connecticut-based customer and planned to expand into other territories. The company has recently been exploring other options for its coconuts. In preparation for this new phase of exports, the company procured a Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) coconut export license in 2022.
