Hazel Technologies Inc., a USDA-funded agricultural technology company delivering packaging solutions to ensure produce quality and reduce food waste, announced agricultural industry veteran Martin Roeder as its Latin America sales manager. Roeder brings over 20 years of experience leading commercial strategy in Latin America for companies such as Monsanto and Spectrum Technologies, Inc. Roeder will lead Hazel’s business efforts in the Latin American region and will report directly to Pat Flynn, CMO of Hazel Technologies, Inc.
Roeder previously served as the Latin America Sales Manager at Spectrum Technologies, Inc., and was focused on growing the company’s agricultural and horticultural business in the region since 2011. He also led Spectrum’s sales efforts across South America and Australia during his tenure with the company. Before then, Roeder led the technology development division for Monsanto in Ecuador, Panama, and Peru for over a decade.

A native of Peru, Roeder has deep ties to Latin America, earning his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in La Molina, Peru. He also earned his master’s in business administration (MBA) from Universidad de Piura in Lima, Peru.
Founded in 2015, Hazel's core technologies revolve around the release of active, shelf-life enhancing vapor from packaging inserts called sachets. The sachets are placed in boxes of bulk produce by growers at the time of harvest, extending the shelf-life of produce up to three times by slowing aging in produce and preventing decay.
Already, Hazel has signed deals and endorsements from many of the leading produce companies including Mission Avocado, the world's largest packer, shipper, and exporter of fresh avocados, WP Produce, the largest grower and distributor of tropical avocados from the Dominican Republic, and Frieda's Inc., one of the world's biggest purveyors of specialty produce.
Additionally, the company's patent-pending technologies have been studied and tested by many of the country's top academic research programs including UC Davis, Oregon State University, and Cornell University, a key point of differentiation for the company.
