Increasingly bizarre weather making covers a necessity

The violent storms that affected most of the Adriatic coast in early July are still etched in our minds. Considering the increasing frequency of these phenomena due to climate change, facing them with whatever technology makes available is essential.

Francesco Giotta, owner of Azienda Agricola Masseria Cantone in the Bari province, decided to protect his apricot crops to safeguard his investments. To do so, he chose Arrigoni, a leading company in the technical textile sector for agriculture.

"I've always been working in the agricultural sector and I manage over 40 hectares in the south-east Bari area. I chose to focus on some excellent local products such as cherries and, of course, apricots, to which I have destined 13 hectares."

Southern Italy has recently been affected by strong weather events - a hailstorm that lasts just a few minutes can be so intense to damage entire productions.

"I have a responsibility not only towards my employees, but also towards our clients, so I never had a doubt about the need to be able to face these events. After a bit of research, I contacted Arrigoni as they are truly professional, can adjust their solutions to my needs and provide high-quality technological solutions."

"I covered my 13 hectares of apricot orchards with Fructus®, which managed to protect my crops against hail as well as against other weather events starting with excessive sunlight."

Fructus® is the special range of high-tenacity monofilament polyethylene woven nets stabilized against UV rays and with a leno weave, which makes it run-proof and durable. Equipped with sturdy side and central eyelets, these nets are particularly suitable for long rows.

Fructus nets are particularly versatile and meet the needs of various anti-hail systems.
