Valle y Pampa wins Peru 2021 social responsibility award

The group Peru 2021, devoted to the promotion of initiatives on social responsibility and sustainability at a national level, celebrated the 12th edition of its social responsibility and sustainable development awards, which are presented to companies that implement social and sustainable programs in several categories. This year, in the category "ENVIRONMENT: Medium-sized Company", the first prize winner was the producer and exporter Valle y Pampa, with its ECOAGRO project.

ECOAGRO is intended for the continuous improvement of integrated irrigation systems in order to minimise the use of water, a scarce commodity in the Ica River basin, where the company operates. Furthermore, Valle y Pampa collaborates with the Department of Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) to assess the life cycle of the production of three of Peru's most important crops (blueberries, pomegranates and asparagus) through a life-cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint (HDC) methodology.

Valle y Pampa supplies high value added fruits and vegetables, following a strategy sustained on innovation, sustainability and the integral development of its human capital. "Valle y Pampa's efforts, which have served to come up with the most important innovation in irrigation technology for precision agriculture of the past 20 years, have required a special entrepreneurial spirit, capable of challenging conventions and embracing change towards sustainability with the company acting as a source of knowledge and progress," concluded Juan Puga, commercial manager of the company.
