Engineer German Scattone, manager of the Citrus Census in the Citrus Federation of Entre Rios (Fecier) stated that they would finish the fieldwork before the year ended.
"We haven't finished, but we are quite advanced and should finish working in the Federation department pretty soon to complete the field survey," he said.
He also stated that "the field survey will be finished before the end of the year but the processing and delivering of results will be done in the first months of next year."
The field work has been developing smoothly. It is worth noting that the census workers input the information onto a computer carried on them so the processing of data should be done in a faster manner.
Additionally, as they are working with the Faculty of Agronomy of the UNER, they should resume the processing of data after the University's summer recess.
The goal is "to have real and updated information on the situation of the citrus industry today regarding the inventory of plant varieties, how the sector has advanced from a technological point of view, and the training of farmers on some relevant aspects," Scattone said.
