Foundations for The Greenery and Euro Pool System in the ground

On Wednesday 9 December, the first foundations for the realisation of two new buildings for Euro Pool Systems and and The Greenery were dug. Tony De Pauw (WDP), Gerjo Scheringa (Euro Pool System), Philip Limvers (The Greenery) and Frank van de Ven (Bouwbedrijf van de Ven) took care of the official handling.

At the location on the Dierensteinweg in Barendrecht, a new building is being realised to extend The Greenery's existing Retail DC. The logistic activities of Hagé International, the import department of The Greenery, will also be located in the new building. In the new building of the packing shed, Euro Pool System will place a new washer to extend the washing capacity of folding crates. In the packing shed the packing handling for Hollander, The Greenery and its growers will be facilitated. Both buildings have a total surface of 40,000 m2.

With the new building, The Greenery is giving expeditious completion to its retail strategy, which is focused on intensive chain collaboration and cost control. In 2016 The Greenery will further strengthen its commercial clout in its focus markets. In recent months, there was hard work done on commercial plans to realise this. The Greenery has a strong base with over 500 own growers, a year round availability of all imaginable vegetables, fruit and mushrooms products and an efficient logistic network with opportunities to load straight from the grower. The Greenery has also proven to have experience in partnerships with retailers.

The delivery of the distribution centre is planned for July 2016. The first phase of the packing shed will be delivered in May 2016. The entire packing shed will be completed in mid 2017.
