Canadian-based company Mucci Farms, a greenhouse vegetable grower, packer and shipper, is launching the Tomato-X, a new tomato variety which, according to Account Manager Stephen Cowan, is intended to “Offer a new flavour experience to the client. We believe the snacking tomato category is taking resurgence right now, so we want to bring the taste profile to the forefront.”
The company's marketing team released the name and packaging label of this new tomato at this year's PMA in Atlanta.
"We all agreed the features of this tomato are incredibly unique from its appearance, its flavour profile to even going a step further by saying it presents an ‘experience’ It possesses somewhat of an “X – factor” and the consumers need to be intrigued by its name, enticed on the shelf and educated when in hand. Therefore with the release, we have gone a bit out of the box and less traditional in regards to the name." said Stephen Cowan from Mucci International.
"We have played on the letter X by using many descriptive words that contain the letter X to emphasize the X factor and key characteristics.

The product will be marketed in packaging with the intent to highlight its qualities, and Mr Cowan explains that, to make things easier for the consumer, “all our packaging will include either a recipe or a QR Code bringing you to our website, where there are great recipes to learn how to use it.”
