Tigrinho melons - new replacement

Southern European season seamlessly transitions to overseas melon season

Total Produce's overseas melon season started in week 36. Right away a great deal of interest was shown and the beginning of the season fit seamlessly with the end of production in Southern Europe, says the company in their newsletter. Total Produce now has Galia, Cantaloupe, Italian Cantaloupe, Yellow Honey Dew and watermelon (seedless and seeded). Starting in week 40 the first Piel de Sapo will also be available.

New scion in the family
This season a new product has been added to the assortment. A new variety of watermelon is being introduced called 'Tigrinho'. As the name suggests (Tigrinho means 'little tiger' in Portuguese), the new variety is characterized by it's stripes, distinctive flavor and firm middle. Although the Tigrinho is a seeded watermelon, the seeds are so soft that they do not detract from the convenience of the product. After the success with the Quetzali watermelon in recent years, Total Produce sees the Tigrinho as a good replacement for the future. They also have faith in this variety because of its high resistance to the effects of Mother Nature.

Continuously searching
Total Produce will continue innovating and working closely with breeders, buyers and suppliers. Developments do not only focus on production, but also on new varieties in order to maintain a seamless connection with the needs of today's consumers.
