"We are increasingly aware that if we want to strengthen our position in the fresh flows from Costa Rica, we need to have the work under our own management. In logistics, it's all about anticipating events, because nothing changes more than logistics. With our own branch in Costa Rica, we are close to the source when it comes to information, and our people can go the extra mile with the same approach and motivation, like we operate from the Netherlands," Omar continues.
Milestone purposely started its Costa Rican branch this month, to get everything sorted before the high season of melons and mangoes starts later on. "In addition, shipping pineapples, plants and decorative greenery from Costa Rica by sea continues year-round. This way, we expect to provide Dutch importers with a number of scale advantages. Our core task is to guarantee the existing fresh shipments in a good and safe manner, and perhaps when we have that on track, we can focus on shipments to North America for instance, but that's something for the future," Omar concludes.
