Bringing accurate weighing to field packing operations

Growers who pack in the field are being challenged to improve the control of their ‘field’ packing operations. They currently either pack ‘aesthetically’, without weighing the produce, or to minimum weight regulations using basic standalone scales. Both methods offer no means of electronically recorded traceability and typically deliver huge inconsistencies resulting in high levels of over pack.

Large retailers are becoming more insistent on receiving hard evidence of compliance to the declared weight on all pre-packed produce and there are many examples of growers losing valuable contracts by not being able to provide consistency in the weighed packs they produce in the field.

Marco recognise that the structure and operation of these growers make building a large number of individual pack houses both expensive and impractical. As a result, accurate mobile weighing/control systems can bring significant benefits to ‘field’ packing operations.
