Next year the Swiss retailer Migros will be celebrating its 90th birthday, reports the Swiss website Scheizerbauer.ch. Gottlieb Duttweiler (1888 - 1962) founded the company in 1925 as a nameless partnership, which was turned into a cooperation in 1941. 90 years later and Migros has grown into a group producing billions. In 2013 the total Migros group produced a turnover of 26.7 billion Swiss franc (22.15 billion Euro) and the company is the largest private employer in Switzerland with over 90,000 employees.

Migros is also hugely important to Swiss growers. According to the Swiss newspaper 'Sonntagsblick' Migros buys one third of the total agricultural production from Swiss growers.
