This year, producers are satisfied with both quantities and profits.
"In 2014 there has been a significant increase in availability. We must thank retailers, as they have shown quite an interest to niche products such as ours - a unique lemon with particular organoleptic qualities and which is not subjected to post-harvesting treatments."
The only problem was the rather short shelf-life caused by the bad weather, which led to administrative sanctions. "Never before has the weather affected all the main Italian crops at the same time. Of course this led to warnings of non-conformity by quality controls, which caused a few problems, but they are actually a guarantee for both the chain and final consumers."
1,300,000 kg of produce have been sold, mainly by retailers.
"We would like to thank those who have believed and keep on believing in our lemons, as they give producers the strength to continue doing their job and preserve the coastal territory," concludes Salvatore De Riso.
