Germany: peach prices lower on average than last year

The end of the stonefruit season is approaching and this is clear from the volumes shrinking every week. This includes the German wholesale markets in week 39. The quality of the products is also decreasing. The interest in the Spanish and Italian peaches and nectarines is shrinking. On average the prices remained at the same level compared to the week before. More was even paid for exclusive late varieties. The Italian yellow fleshed peaches were 10 cents higher than in week 38. On average throughout 2014 the peach prices were lower than in the year before. The French ones were 2.47 per kilo in 2013 and in 2014 2.27 per kilo. The Italian were only at an average of 1.32 this year, compared to 1.43 last year. The Spanish were only a few cents lower than last year.
