Exports between January and August amount to 702.9 million dollars

Peru: Increased fruit exports to the Netherlands and US

The Association of Exporters (ADEX) in Peru, reported that between January and August of 2013, Peruvian fruit exports reached a total of 76 markets and totaled 702.9 million dollars, a 15.2% increase due to the increased demand from the Netherlands and the United States.

According to figures from ADEX’s Business Intelligence Data Trade System, sales to the Netherlands amounted to 202.1 million dollars, a 12.5 % increase, and those made to the United States totaled $171.3 million dollars (+22.3 %).

These markets accounted for 28.7% and 24.3% of total fruit exports, respectively, both bought mainly avocados and mangoes.

The UK was in third place with $ 53.9 million dollars, followed by Spain, Hong Kong, Canada, China, Russia, Germany, Japan, Chile and Belgium, among others.

The most significant increases were from China (127.5 %) and Germany (58.8%). Both countries are located in the top ten.

Fruits most in demand are avocados, whose exports totaled $171 million dollars, followed by grapes, mangoes, bananas, tangerines, walnuts, strawberries, oranges, blueberries and passion fruit, among others.
