Chile: Good prospects grape season
The industry isn’t without problems however. A revaluation of Chile’s Peso is not considered favourable for the sector, nor is the sustained rise of costs. Domestic grape consumption is but small, about 10% of the total output. But as suppliers like Greece, Spain and Italy were unable to meet demands, Chile is anticipating healthy demands from the EU. China is also buying grapes, although largest buyer remains the US with 40%.
