"Italy: "Price difference between seedless and seeded grapes depends on the supply levels"
"The difference in price has a simple explanation: there is less supply of seedless grapes on the European market at the moment. Greece and Spain, in fact, have produced less than expected. Our seeded grapes "Italia", however, are available in high volumes", Giacomo says.
Giacomo Suglia.
Grape's marketing performance in Europe has seen ups and downs, this year, according to Giacomo: "Some Egyptian grapes were still available during July and the products from Italy and Greece came on the market in August: creating an oversupply which generated low prices. Later on, grape's offer decreased due to drought in some areas and too much rain in others."
"All Italian grapes which are now being exported come from cold storage. Average export price is surely on a lower level compared to that of grapes coming from farer origins, facing higher transport costs," Giacomo concludes.
