Banana crops, one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy in Holguin (Cuba) are currently recovering, as recognized by Jorge Cuevas Ramos, President of the Provincial Defense Council.
During an evaluation of the work that is being undertaken in the agricultural sector, Cuevas pointed out the speed in which workers from Limoncito are working at. Limoncito is located in the municipality of Urbano Noris, whose main production is destined for the consumption in the city of Holguin.
That entity is one of the largest in the province dedicated to banana production within agriculture companies with some 700 hectares.
The most significant damage caused by the hurricane in the agricultural branch of Holguin, is concentrated in this line, said Migdalia Moreno, territorial delegate of agriculture.
Holguín is distinguished nationally for its high banana crops, hence the damages in that crop represents a high incidence in general damages caused by the hurricane to produce meats, grains, fruits and vegetables.
Other fronts where there has been recovery, after seven days from the impact of the cyclone, are communications, electricity, public health and education.
