Netherlands: Anticipated harvest of apples and pears even lower

The Dutch estimate for this year’s apple and pear crop has been adjusted again. Estimations are now even lower than before. A harvest of 313 million kilos of apple and 198 million kilos of pears is now to be expected. In July, these numbers were estimated to be 320 million and 208 million respectively.

The assessment is the result of the definitive data. The Elstar estimate has been adjusted from 122 to 116 million kilos, the Golden Delicious from 25 to 24 million, and the Conference from 175 to 165 million. Only the Jonagold’s estimate stays the same.

Total apple harvest is now an estimated 25% lower than in 2011, pears are down 41%.
