Much to do about peeled bananas in Billa supermarket
Actually a banana is well packed in its own peel. The Austrian supermarket chain Billa wanted to improve on that and peeled bananas and packed them in foil. Consumers reacted annoyed, however, via internet.
The comments on Facebook varied from "I do not believe it" to "can I buy the peel separately from the shelf with jokes?" In total the dismay about removing and repacking dominated. Billa in the meantime supplied an explanation, which quieted the criticism somewhat. The bananas are 'supposedly an own initiative' packed in a branch, as announced by the company on its own Facebook page. In principle one is happy with an engagement like this of the employees, but this example, however, shows, "that we should inform our employees even better about the theme durability."
The idea of packed bananas has not only started with a busy fruit seller of Billa, Last year in the British Daily Mail already photographs appeared of bananas, which were peeled, but were separately packed. With a print 'New! Sealed for Freshness' Del Monte advertised for the doubtful double packing. But also in Germany supermarkets pack their organic bananas in plastic foil.
